SELECTED LOCATIONS

An elegant, sophisticated wine made from best grapes from vineyards on terraces. Our vineyards bring out its potential with specific soils, locations and microclimates, making it a smooth and structural wine with a great deal of colour and flavours.

Grape variety: Merlot
Wine region: Goriška brda - Slovenia
Soil: flysch of Eocene origin (marl and sandstone with a predominantly clayey component), the soil is rich in minerals and marine fossils.
Vineyard orientation: SE
Altitude: 140 m
Vine training: single Guyot
Grape harvest: October. Hand harvesting at full ripeness, selected grapes. Gentle handling of grapes and must.
Maceration: 14 days on the skins in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation is completed in stainless steel tanks.
Barrels: Barriques, made to our order from Slovenian oak, selection.
Maturation: Natural maturing in 225 –Litre oak barrels (barrique) for three years. Maturing continues after bottling. Tertiary aromas will develop over the years to come.
Sugar level: dry
Bottle and packaging: Bordolese EUROPEA 0,75 l/12 bottle cardboard box.

Serving temperature: 18 °C

We recommend opening the bottle about one hour prior to tasting the wine. The aroma is fully developed through the process of decanting.

Description  Dark ruby colour. With longer maturing, it acquires dark red hues. A vibrant and unique bouquet, full of balsamic notes. On the palate, ripe fruit, cherries in liqueur, aromatic herbs and soft spiciness. Complex and structured flavour. A mature full-bodied wine with pleasant acidity and ripe, soft tannins. An elegant, sophisticated wine. Long, fresh and noble aftertaste.

MERLOT Eminent  reaches its maximum expression in the first eight years and then, under the right bottle-storing conditions, exceed ten years or more.

MERLOT Eminent  with a bottle ageing potential of ten years and more. The rich structure and harmony of the aromas acquire complexity, elegance, softness and bouquet with ageing.
Thanks to a highly suitable micro-terroir and natural production methods, the wine remains fresh, fruity, full of flavour and vitality.
